Creating my lead magnet

Now that I’ve figured out that I’m going to focus on helping people write and publish a book, I need to start developing a lead magnet. Because of the research I’ve done I know that the very first thing I need to do is anticipate the internal resistance people will feel about writing a book. If I can’t help them with that, I won’t be able to help them write a book.

So the internal resistance I need to address seems to come down to a few key themes (based on the research I’ve done):

Perfectionism (and the fear that people won’t like the writing)

Vulnerability — sharing myself and my work with other people — and finding my audience

Time — Making consistent time to write and making emotional space to write

Organization — How to organize my writing and what to say.

Underlying these 4 themes I see a deeper emotional connection happening and so I think I’ve found my lead magnet, which will address the emotional context as well as these 4 issues. The lead magnet will be a free resource, a way of me highlighting how to address these issues while also pointing the way toward how I might be able to help these people on their writing journey. What I also need to do is go back to my own beginning experiences as a writer and show that I can understand relate to where my audience is emotionally and then show them how I got to where I am now, with multiple published books.
