It certainly is possible for an online medium to be a doorway to a deeper relationship, but only a doorway. If the interaction never proceeds past an online medium, its hard to truly develop an intimate connection.

And I think its worthwhile to really look at the intentions. Is the person trying to cultivate a deeper connection or just the illusion of one? If its the latter (which it so often is), then we really need to recognize that intention and make it clear that we don’t want to support such a person, because they are only interested in plundering our wallets.

Genuine relationships take work and while online media can be a doorway to such relationships, we can’t fail to recognize how it can also be the opposite, and how often it really is.
